in one of our engineering (yes, engineering) classes in high school we had to create a program to make a machine etch something into a block of wood (proper autoCAD lingo escapes me all these years later).
i opted for my last name, and the little wooden nameplate i created still sits on my bookshelf to this day.
these are way cooler.
